It's a new idea that will threaten some videogamers, but overall I think it is a good thing to support change and innovation because that's how the field makes progress.

I agree. I am glad that everyone will get a chance to play this sure-to-be most excellent game, but come on, just do it like Bioshock except reverse (PS3 to 360 later).
Does this apply to American retailers? Like Gamestop? (I know they are bad but I have some lingering store credit with them.)
actually public betas are often used to stress-test servers so you dont have crappy online play for the initial weeks after the game is released (e.g. Super Smash Bros Brawl or Castle Crashers )

I'm so tired of these kids who think the Playstation1 was the first home console. The 8bit and 16bit generation were every bit as expensive as games today and that doesn't even include 20 years of inflation!
Add that to the fact that you could complete most of those games in under 5 hours. Even for the PS1 I could complete most of the games I loved in under 5 hours (MGS, Twisted Metal, Jumping Flash.

In other news, I cannot wait for this game, both in terms of the game itself and the way in which it will stretch the limits of what home consoles can do in terms of user-generated content.
I kind of agree with Menchi. I felt his comment about sales and ratings was a bit arrogant saying "oh yeah, well maybe my game won't score as high, but it'll sell better." The only reason it will sell so incredibly well is because he created the Sims, I doubt this game on its own would be as successful without his name attached. To me, if you are a fan of the FF series (as I am), or a fan of good videogames (which I also am), I want as many people as possible to experience FF13.
Besides, I think it's funny that so many people only associate the FF series with Sony when the series really began with Nintendo. There are FF games before 7 people! :P
I'll preorder from the retailer that offers official Mario or Sonic costumes! Or even Master Chief, or Link, oh the possibilities are endless! I cannot wait for this game. Sometimes I think my interest in videogames is solely for the purpose of teaching me the virtue of patience.

Honestly, the controls are preventing me from getting the game. I remember playing through RE 1 + 2 and absolutely loving the experience, but then experiencing other 3rd person games in which the controls felt much more natural, and then I simply could not return to the series. With the PS3 and 360 we have seen an even further evolution of controls (Uncharted, GTA, Gears) that makes, for me, going back to the archaic control scheme more work than it is worth. That's just my opinion.
You have a 360 (I infer this from your interest in Fable 2), and you don't have Bioshock already?
As for me, my interest in LBP is way ahead of the other games. I'll wait for reviews for Far Cry and Fable.
